چکیده

To analyze the urinary biomarkers in men with lower urinary-tract symptoms (LUTS) and identify interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) from other dysfunctions (LUTDs) by levels of characteristic biomarkers. In total, 198 LUTS were prospectively enrolled urine samples collected before intervention or medical treatment. Videourodynamic studies routinely performed LUTDs diagnosed as having bladder-outlet obstruction (BOO) such bladder-neck dysfunction, benign prostatic obstruction, poor relaxation external sphincter (PRES); bladder dysfunction detrusor overactivity (DO), hypersensitive (HSB), IC/BPS. Patients suspicious IC/BPS further confirmed cystoscopic hydrodistention under anesthesia. The investigated for 11 inflammatory including eotaxin, IL-6, IL-8, CXCL10, MCP-1, MIP-1β, RANTES, TNF-α, NGF, BDNF, PGE2; 3 oxidative stress 8-OHdG, 8-isoprostane, TAC. biomarker analyzed between LUTD subgroups patients. results this study revealed that among patients, was 48, BOO 66, DO 25, HSB 27, PRES 15, normal 17. had a higher pressure index than IC/BPS, whereas patients BOO, smaller cystometric capacity subgroups. Among biomarkers, significantly TAC all By combination different either alone combination, highest sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative value to discriminate subgroups, DO, Inflammatory MCP-1 8-OHdG TAC, although did not have diagnostic male concluded using TNF-α eotaxin levels, can be used LUTS.

Imaging assessments of lower urinary tract dysfunctions: Future steps.

Urodynamic tests are the standard diagnostic method for lower urinary tract dysfunctions (LUTD). However, these tests are invasive. The current review describes the noninvasive imaging techniques that have been used to monitor LUTD. The main imaging technologies that have been applied in diagnosing LUTD were 2D ultrasonography, Doppler ultrasonography, and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). Ult...

Videourodynamic findings of lower urinary tract dysfunctions in men with persistent storage lower urinary tract symptoms after medical treatment

OBJECTIVE To analyze the underlying lower urinary tract dysfunctions by video-urodynamic studies in men who have persistent storage symptoms after initial drug therapy for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) suggestive of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). METHODS The medical records of 614 men ≥40 years of age with LUTS and an International Prostate Symptom Score of ≥8 were retrospectively ...

Chlamydia and Male Lower Urinary Tract Diseases

Of the chlamydia species that can cause infections in humans, C. trachomatis is responsible for lower urinary tract diseases in men and women. C. trachomatis infections are prevalent worldwide, but current research is focused on females, with the burden of disease and infertility sequelae considered to be a predominantly female problem. However, a role for this pathogen in the development of ma...

Idiopathic Parkinson's Disease: Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunctions and Urodynamic Abnormalities

Background: Although the motor symptoms of idiopathic Parkinson's disease (IPD) are well defined, several studies have established that the non motor symptoms of IPD are common and occur across all stages of IPD, underestimated, unrecognized and untreated. Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate the urinary symptoms at different stages of IPD severity and its relation to urodynamic par...

Lower urinary tract symptoms and urinary incontinence.

Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) is a global term which includes symptoms caused by failure to store urine and empty the bladder, and post-micturition symptoms. The term LUTS was initially coined in 1994. Before that urinary symptoms were frequently attributed to a particular organ such as the prostate [1]. Since then organocentric terms such as ‘prostatism’ have become increasingly obsolete...
